Conference Theme:
“Between Proximity and Distance: Transposing Shakespeare Today”
As The Shakespeare Association of Korea (SAK) marks its 60th anniversary, SAK will hold an international conference on the theme of “Between Proximity and Distance: Transposing Shakespeare Today.” This conference will seek to explore the ways in which the plays of Shakespeare and other early modern playwrights have been transposed on pages, and stages, as well as in different regions and time periods. The notion of distance and proximity in Shakespeare studies can be either conceptual or physical. Every act of engagement with Shakespeare is, at least to a certain extent, to measure the conceptual or physical distance between various time periods, productions, cultural milieus, textual variants, entities, and continents. SAK would be very appreciative of contributions by international scholars who would travel temporal, geographical, textual, or cultural distances to mark the 60 years of SAK.

SAK invites submissions for either panel sessions or seminar sessions. Please send us the title of your presentation and your preferred session by the 28th of February.
